ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Eastern Kansas Health Care System is seeking to hire a Licensed Practical Nurse's to serve our Veterans at the Junction City Community Based Outpatient Clinic.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties to include but not limited to the following: Performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the Veteran. Assist in the development and revision of the patient-driven holistic life care plan with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. Provide care to a culturally diverse population with varying levels of complexity. Demonstrates active collaboration, communication, and problem solving with core team (Patient, Primary Care Provider, Registered Nurse, and Medical Support Assistant) and expanded team(family/caregiver, internal and external community-based services who may be involved in providing care to the patient). May be assigned to assist other PACTs as needed at a Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) or the main campus Preferred Experience: Phlebotomy experience Physical Requirements: LPNs require visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting of at least 35 pounds. Transferring/lifting patients and objects may be required. Staff may be required to don protective equipment in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. They may also be exposed to patients who are combative, secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. Travel between VA EKHCS campuses and to CBOCs may be required. The LPN must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. They may be exposed, on a short-term basis to fumes, dust, and other debris. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as EKHCS is a 24/7 hospital, and the LPN is identified as an essential worker. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
