<p>The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is assigned to Geriatrics, on the short stay rehabilitation unit in the Community Living Center, located at the James A. Haley VA in Tampa, Florida. The incumbent will provide direct resident care to adult through geriatric-aged veterans/residents, recognizing age-related needs and demonstrating the knowledge and care appropriate for that age group.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The LPN provides effective education to residents and/or families members in relation to common disease processes, medication, and/or prescribed treatment regimes. Experience in short stay rehabilitation preferred. Duties include but are not limited to: Considers the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation need of the resident and demonstrates competence by correctly providing age-appropriate care Recognizes culture differences in residents and demonstrates ability to understand and respect the resident's culture, values, beliefs, and practices Demonstrates ability to care for the resident in the rehabilitation setting and care of the resident with subacute and sometimes emergent care needs Provides education to patients, families, significant others, and other direct care providers; and participates in the quality improvement process Prepares and performs a wide range of nursing tasks consistent with policies and procedures, such as personal nursing care, medication/treatment, support for diagnostic services, documentation, and teaching Demonstrates leadership as a licensed professional Maintains a therapeutic environment with residents, families, co-workers, and all members of the interdisciplinary team Assures the assignment of special observation status is completed, according to policy. Provides exemplary Resident/Family Centered Care Facilitates resident's rights and encourages them to meet their responsibilities as an inpatient Actively participates in the team process for improvement and implementation of change. Work Schedule: Fulltime, 12-hour Day shift (8-hour shifts are negotiable), rotating weekends, and holidays, and occasional off tour for coverage. Compressed/Flexible: Not Authorized Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
