Recruitment or Relocation Incentive may be offered to highly qualified, eligible applicants.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Division of Urology at the VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHCS) is seeking an academically oriented staff urologist with expertise in Endourology, with particular focus on the evaluation and management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong academic record supported by evidence of teaching, research activity, and peer-reviewed publications within the field of Urology. Prior leadership experience is beneficial and will be considered favorably. This position is primarily centered on Endourology but also offers opportunities to expand and contribute to additional subspecialty areas within Urology, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic/robotic surgery, as well as pathways for leadership growth within the service. Clinical responsibilities will also include general urology coverage and participation in call, ensuring broad and comprehensive clinical exposure. Major Duties include but are not Limited to: Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with the full range of urologic conditions, both benign and malignant. Perform minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures. Provide outpatient and inpatient urologic consultations and follow-up care. Participate in general urology call coverage. Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations for urology patients. Teach and supervise residents, fellows, and trainees; participate in research and academic activities. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
