PHYSICIAN (SLEEP MEDICINE)

<p>About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Medicine Department of Medicine Sleep Laboratory in Honolulu, Hawaii. Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Physician is the recognized subject matter expert in all matters related to sleep medicine.</p><p>Integrate newly published scientific research on sleep, interpret published professional guidelines and educate other providers.</p><p>Develop policies and guidelines for the program with regards to sleep evaluation.</p><p>Given the latitude to work within and interpret guidelines as sees fit for the betterment of the program and its patients.</p><p>Responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic.</p><p>Diagnose multiple chronic conditions and a wide range of sleep and breathing disorders and diseases, complicated diagnoses and treatments.</p><p>Manage assigned cases that often have overlapping complex conditions that involve complicated diagnostic and testing procedures.</p><p>Order and evaluate the full range of tests to include polysomnography, actigraphy, sleep diaries, unattended sleep studies, appropriate radiographic, pulmonary function testing and laboratory testing when indicated.</p><p>Supervise, teach and provide consultation to other health care providers (nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows).</p><p>Incumbent has direct contact with staff members in order to plan and coordinate the provision of sleep medicine in the program as well as to resolve operational issues.</p><p>Provide expert advice not only to providers within the program but to the Commanding General on sleep health concerns in senior leaders and the impact of that on a wide range of healthcare concerns.</p><p>Serve as the primary Sleep Medicine Physician. Board Certified or possession of a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sleep Medicine preferred.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
