<p>Physician for the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, who will provide full-scope, independent rheumatology care to adult and adolescent patients, and serving as a clinical authority and consultant for complex autoimmune, muscoskeletal, and connective tissue disease cases. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Physician Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Conducts comprehensive patient evaluations, including complete history and physical examination, review of prior medical records, and formulation of differential diagnoses. Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies, laboratory panels, and imaging relevant to rheumatologic conditions, integrating findings into a definitive treatment plan. Performs indicated procedures, including joint and soft tissue injections, aspirations, and other privileged interventional techniques within the scope of rheumatology practice. Serves as the primary rheumatology consultant for Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) medical staff and field hospitals and health centers throughout the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service (IHS). Participates in teaching activities for medical staff, nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists, and other physician extenders across relevant specialty areas. Performs medically related or patient care assignments that fall outside the designated rheumatology specialty area when directed by clinical leadership on an emergency or contingency basis. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service. Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.
