Contact visn15edrp@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Duties include but are not limited to: Providing general clinical psychiatric services to Veterans, including crisis and walk-in services. Conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, treatment planning, and medication management. May be expected to provide direct clinical supervision of multidisciplinary staff as appropriate Completing general notes and encounters within 72 hours, assigned and/or required Talent Management Systems (TMS) trainings, and Ongoing Professional Practice Examination (OPPE) assessments for other providers by due dates assigned. May provide clinical coverage for other medical providers in Behavioral Health. Provides clinical services to Veterans in a variety of formats including face to face, CVT, and VVC as clinically appropriate. The work requires an administrative and practical understanding of mental health treatment settings, as well as clinical knowledge as a Psychiatrist. The incumbent must possess the analytical ability to research, assemble, and compile information and data, evaluate the results against appropriate standards, and recommend corrective action where indicated. Common diagnoses are anxiety disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorders related to Traumatic Brain Injury. The population served consists of female and male Veterans from all military eras. Most patients are treated in an outpatient setting but consultation services may be provided to inpatients and to Community Living Center and Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program residents, patients enrolled in the Mental Health Intensive Case Management programs; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team program; Substance Use programs; Homeless programs; or Housing Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing development program. The incumbent is required to exercise judgement in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted clinical theories, techniques, and practices in treating patients or developing new techniques and programs for the treatment of specialized problems or clinical populations. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant. [If the applicant does not claim an ECFMG certificate, facility officials must still confirm that the medical school meets (or met) ECFMG eligibility requirements for the year the candidate graduated.] NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
