Applications will remain on file until September 30, 2026.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Our hospital provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health services, physical therapy and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury treatment, and more. Located on the Georgia/South Carolina border, the city of Augusta, GA lies on the Savannah River, which supports its diverse economic endeavors as well as vast recreation options. The city is the center point of the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), a 13-county region that includes both Georgia and South Carolina. It is located within close proximity to many major southern destinations including Atlanta, Columbia, and Charlotte.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Major Duties/Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting. Works collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting and embracing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care, utilizing Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence (ICARE) values throughout the clinic. Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and initiate appropriate response to emergency health problems. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral. Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services. Initiate, evaluate, and change orders for medications. Follow Performance Measure guidelines, including completion of clinical reminders; access and timeliness standards; prescription order entry, National VA formulary Requirements, and customer service standards. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to clinic demands, adhere to personal and professional obligations and responsibilities. Practice and maintain ethical standards and sustain a work environment that is harmonious and customer service oriented. Other duties, as assigned. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Work Schedule subject to change based on agency needs.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
