ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative and Program Oversight Provides strategic and clinical leadership for the CLC, including post-acute and long-term care services Leads and supports readiness for VA and external regulatory surveys, ensuring ongoing compliance with accreditation and performance standards Partners with nursing and administrative leadership to drive program development, innovation, and continuous quality improvement Participates in and/or leads multidisciplinary committees, including but not limited to: Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Age-Friendly Health System initiatives Infection Control Other quality improvement and Whole Health initiatives aimed at enhancing care delivery Monitors clinical quality metrics, patient safety indicators, and performance outcomes Ensures compliance with VA policies, directives, and clinical practice standards Supervisory Responsibilities Ensure sufficient provider (physician and certified registered nurse practitioner) coverage Supervises a team of up to 10 medical providers (physician and certified registered nurse practitioner) within the CLC Promotes a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning within the provider team Conducts Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE/OPPE) and annual performance evaluations Provides clinical oversight, mentorship, and support to providers Manages workload distribution and monitors productivity in alignment with VA expectations Addresses performance concerns and implements corrective actions in accordance with VA policies Clinical Duties Provides direct patient care, including routine rounds on CLC residents Leads coordination of comprehensive, interdisciplinary care for Veterans with complex medical, functional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs. Coordinates care across the continuum, including: Acute inpatient units Emergency departments External long-term care and rehabilitation facilities Specialty care services Reviews consults and facilitates admissions to: Short-stay neighborhoods (Skilled Nursing, Skilled Rehabilitation, Intensive Rehabilitation Program) Long-term care and transitional care neighborhoods Locked memory care neighborhood Hospice neighborhood Ensures safe transitions of care and continuity of services for Veterans Oversee collaboration and ongoing clinical case review for the Southwestern Veterans Home Call Responsibilities The CLC partners with the National Tele-MOD program to provide first-call coverage during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays The CLC Medical Director participates in a rotating call schedule with other CLC physicians, providing second-call/backup coverage as needed VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
