Physician - CBOC Medical Director

For more information, refer to Required Documents below.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>We are seeking an enthusiastic physician for an exciting full time position in Boston, Massachusetts in vibrant and diverse clinics. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that excellent, high-quality care is provided to our Veteran population in Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Plymouth, Quincy, Framingham, and Lowell. These four practices total 24 providers for > 8000 patients. This full-time position includes approximately 51% clinical time and 49% administrative time. This person will be the Medical Director for the five VA Boston Community Based Outpatient Clinics.VA Primary Care Physicians manage a complex panel of patients in collaborative teams. Appointment lengths are 60 minutes for new patients and 30 minutes for all other appointments. Telephone and video care are encouraged. Each physician is assigned a registered nurse, clinical associate, and scheduler. There is no call, and no weekend or holiday duty. Key responsibilities include: Working as a member of the management team to provide oversight of practice management including direct provider supervision, operational issues and clinical performance. The Medical Director will have clinical time at one of the clinics above, providing longitudinal care to a panel of medically complex and diverse patients. Developing local educational initiatives for providers and trainees. Implementing clinical quality improvement initiatives. Physicians provide general and gender-specific care to adult men and women. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
