<p>Orem Utah VA Community Based Clinic is seeking a Physician Assistant for Primary Care. The Physician Assistant will provide independent specified medical or other patient care service to our Veterans. The PA collaborates with other disciplines to develop, implement, and coordinate a system of patient care delivery that promotes communication, teamwork, high quality care, patient satisfaction, positive outcomes, appropriate utilization of resources and cost-effective services.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. General Description of Duties: The PA will be fully qualified and certified to function in a clinical role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the VASLCHCS. This individual is delegated the authority and responsibility in their area of expertise to assume major clinical, consultative, educational, research, and administrative duties and assignments related to the examination of veterans seeking Primary Care at VASLCHCS. Clinical The PA practices general internal medicine with a focus on outpatient clinical care. Approximately 90% of the PA's time is dedicated to developing and maintaining an interdisciplinary approach to the direct care of general medicine clinic patients. The PA independently follows their own panel of general internal medicine patients, functioning as their primary care provider. This primary care/gatekeeper role is incumbent with a high degree of responsibility and independence. The PA's assessment skills and breadth of knowledge must be excellent. In addition, they must be a highly effective communicator in order to negotiate with consultants at the VAMC regarding the triaging of patients they refer. Administrative Because of the highly integrative approach used in Primary Care outpatient clinics. The PA must work closely with their colleagues and must serve as a leader in developing processes to improve care and satisfaction. Research If assigned research duties, the PA enrolls patients in active Ambulatory Care research protocols and completes follow-up visits with required studies. Supervisory Controls The incumbent reports clinically and administratively to: CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER (CMO) of the assigned clinic location and the ASSOCIATE CHIEF OF STAFF PRIMARY CARE (ACOS PC). Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
