<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>This Physician Assistant (Cardiology) position is a full-time, 40 hour a week position located with the Cardiology Service Line at the VA Togus Healthcare System in Augusta, Maine. This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. NOTE: This multi-discipline recruitment will result in the hiring of one of the following disciplines: Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, and Physicians. Duties include, but are not limited to: Obtain a pertinent history and physical examination, ordering appropriate ancillary diagnostic testing to support or refute a diagnosis or to follow the course of an illness or diagnosis. Conduct regular, pharmaceutical, nuclear and echocardiographic exercise stress tests. May interpret Holter studies with physician review. May interrogate pacemakers with physician review. Wound care and debridement. Care and flushing of venous access devices. Drawing blood from peripheral veins or venous access devises. Provide medical treatment with the supervising physician. Orders are written for diagnostic studies, treatment, transfer, and leaves of absence. Assess established outpatients and will document appropriate progress notes and order appropriate tests. Make daily rounds to observe and record patient's medical progress, update and summarize medical records, change orders when appropriate and notifies the responsible physician of significant changes in the patient's condition.
