<p>About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Surgery Department of Surgery Anesthesiology Service in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is an open continuous announcement. We accept applications on an ongoing basis; qualified applicants will be considered as vacancies become available. Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers. Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provide contemporary regional and general anesthesia care including pediatric, geriatric patients; obstetric anesthesia; and anesthesia for all surgical specialties.</p><p>Perform the most advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures without professional direction.</p><p>Participate in the handling of other catastrophic problems where the skills of an anesthesiologist are also applicable, e.g., drug overdoses, cardiac arrest, and respiratory problems.</p><p>Serve as consultant for the administration of anesthesia by nurse anesthetist.</p><p>Implement the proper use of mechanical ventilators in the recovery room, and as necessary in the intensive care units.</p><p>Provide consultation regarding preoperative preparation, intro and postoperative anesthetic management, and treatment of chronic pain patients.</p><p>Responsible for accurate completion of required forms, reports, and medical records.</p><p>Review anesthetic records and charts of personnel supervised to assure proper professional quality control.</p><p>Serve as adjunct faculty of the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing Phase II.</p><p>Responsible for the nursing anesthesia staff, nursing anesthesia students.</p><p>Supervise, teach, and counsel medical students, resident physicians, and dental fellows rotating through the Anesthesiology Service in the proper administration of anesthesia.</p><p>Ensure the operating room's prompt and safe accomplishment of its mission.</p><p>Efficiently and fairly schedules and allots operating room time to the surgical specialties.</p><p>Teach airway management and IV training, including central lines.</p><p>Continues the updating and ordering of new anesthesia and monitoring equipment.</p><p>Help function as ward officer for Surgical Recovery Room.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
