Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System (VANWIHCS) is seeking two full-time Anesthesiologists to join our Surgical Service Department. Types of surgeries include but are not limited to: General surgery, Orthopedics, Plastics, ophthalmology, Urology, Podiatry, vascular surgery, Thoracic, ENT, and Oral surgery. This physician should have expertise in invasive and non-invasive surgical techniques as established in current delineation of privileges. Responsible for completing patient encounters, notes, and correctly coding visits in accordance with coding guidelines. When working with inpatients the provider will participate in interdisciplinary patient care plan activities. Maintain skills, proficiencies, and professional knowledge required for licensing and clinical scope of practice. Patient care may be delivered via face-to-face, Telehealth, or phone consultation, as well as through MyHealtheVet, and e-consults. The Physician will be required to attend staff meetings, serves on committees, teams, workgroups, morbidity and mortality committee, and peer reviews as requested. The Provider will complete CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training, and other mandatory trainings. Work may involve participation and education of surgery residents and/or medical or PA students Work Schedule: Monday -Friday 0800-1600 Additional information will be provided during interview process. This position is not eligible for telework. Typical work hours will be determined based on clinic work-load to accommodate both medical and surgical needs. On call duties will be assigned as necessary.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
