<p>This position is located within the Beaver Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) and in the surrounding community that services the Beaver CBOC. This position is within Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) under Medicine Service Line of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) in Pittsburgh, PA.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE. VA Careers - Physical Therapy: https://youtube.com/embed/Gi2hoFqIoqY The incumbent provides coverage for the CBOC and will also provide Home Care Services on a routine basis in the surrounding community that the CBOC services with planned and spontaneous assignments across all rehab areas within the VAPHS catchment area including outpatient, acute care, skilled nursing, and tele-rehabilitation. Duties include but not limited to the following: Make autonomous clinical decisions in a Direct Access environment. This includes ability to independently evaluate and treat patients who seek physical therapy services on a walk-in basis. Perform examinations and evaluations of individuals who have or may develop impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions related to conditions of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or integumentary systems while considering the effects attributable to unique psychosocial and environmental factors. Interpret findings from examination and evaluation, select appropriate test and measures, and integrate findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of patient populations. Establish a diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy and identify the appropriate rehabilitation intervention, including referral to another provider for further consultation as clinically indicated. Determine physical therapy prognosis by incorporating examination findings with the patient's preferences to set clinically appropriate treatment goals, optimize outcomes and maximize functional independence. Independently provide clinical oversight of Physical Therapy Assistants (PRN), Physical Therapy residents as well as students on clinical affiliations. Guided by differential and movement diagnoses that are common to physical therapy, the physical therapist will independently provide assessment and treatment interventions to outpatients and home care patients through direct access, healthcare provider referrals and patient self-referrals. Perform examinations and evaluations of Veteran's suffering from physical impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions related to conditions of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or integumentary systems while considering the effects attributable to unique personal and environmental factors. Responsible for interpreting the findings from examination, diagnostic studies/medical tests during evaluation/ plan of care development process. Actively participates in program development to improve efficiency and quality of care provided to patients. Coordinates same day services for the VAPHS teams. Works to provide ideas in conjunction with the CBOC supervisor for Rehab/PT continuous improvement projects. Represents the CBOC Rehabilitation team in the development of policies and procedures, quality assurance monitors and related standards of care. Attend educational and development meetings for PM&R service, Physical Therapy Department, and those specific to outpatient care provision. Aware of and adheres to the department/service/facility's values, mission, rules, policies and procedures and the American Physical Therapy Association Standards of Practice and Standards of Ethics to ensure quality patient care.
