<p>About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Recruitment Incentive may be authorized. Advanced Leave Accrual may be authorized. Advanced In-hire may be authorized.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Dispense, prescribe and/ or administer medicine.</p><p>Screen for drug interactions and reviews pertinent laboratory results, when necessary, as part of the prescription verification process.</p><p>Interface with physicians or other health care providers in the design of a drug treatment plan and monitors drug therapy for patients.</p><p>Prepare complex combinations regimens for clinical protocols including new and investigational agents and biologic response modifiers.</p><p>Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and patients on investigational drugs being utilized and ensures that up to date information is readily available in the patient care units.</p><p>Compare and contrast therapeutic regimens and use for new and existing products.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
