<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner (CPP) Supervisor, Inpatient/Specialty Clinical Pharmacy Programs functions at the highest level of clinical practice, working independently under his/her scope of practice as defined by the medical center to directly care for patients requiring care as deemed necessary and appropriate in his/her designated area of specialty at the parent facility and to other areas of the medical center as assigned. The CPP Supervisor, Pharmacy Supervisor, Inpatient/Specialty Clinical Pharmacy Programs, is responsible for the professional and administrative management of an assigned area in pharmacy service, plays a defined role in budgetary execution, and serves as a consultant and mid level provider who functions to initiate, modify or discontinue medication therapy. Extensive documentation and clinical progress note writing are required of this position. The incumbent may be involved in research activities and precepting of pharmacy trainees. VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Duties: Serves as a provider with prescribing privileges as outlined in the individual's Scope of Practice to perform comprehensive medication management (CMM) and anticoagulation management. Responsible for policy development, quality resources, and specialty functions unique to the lnpatient/Specialty Clinical Pharmacy and Anticoagulation/Geriatric Programs to optimize cost effectiveness (budget) and patient outcomes. S/he will monitor, develop, and evaluate the activities of the Clinical Pharmacy Practitioners (CPPs) assigned to lnpatient/Specialty. Manages the activities of assigned Clinical Pharmacy Staff and has the oversight of ongoing inpatient and outpatient clinical pharmacy services. Works under the supervision of the Assistant Chief, Clinical and Education Services and, as calibrates with the Pharmacy Chief and other Associate Chiefs. Works with other pharmacy staff to assure that pharmacy clinical services are well coordinated and incorporated into the overall approach to patient care. Assures that the pharmaceutical care needs of patients are met across the continuum of care within the scope of their clinical specialty area. Supervise subordinates in his/her area of specialty and ensures that services provided meet or exceed the professional and legal standard. Manages people, maintains effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facility's mission and goals. Ensures implementation of performance standards, assures that clinical practice is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements. Develops policies and procedures relative to the assigned area of practice. Designs and implements orientation and training programs for staff and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities. Interviews prospective candidates for appointments, recommends appointments, advancements, or promotions or disciplinary actions. Uses methods of tracking and trending clinical effectiveness and monitoring those methods within area of supervised clinical practice including but not limited to the PharmD tool. Responsible for tracking and trending workload within clinical area of supervised clinical practice through proper clinic set up and proper use of encounter coding. S/he will monitor timely encounter completion, signing/cosigning of progress notes and consults open for the outpatient clinical pharmacy programs.
