<p>The Inpatient Pharmacy at the Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC), is responsible for controlling and providing medications to patients and health care providers through a variety of avenues (unit dose, IV admixtures, controlled substance, outpatient prescriptions, etc.), providing information to staff, health care providers, and patients, in addition to managing allocated resources as efficiently as possible.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Duties includes but are not limited to: Recruits, develops, and retains a diverse high-quality workforce to include the hiring of qualified minorities, women, and disabled candidates. Interviews prospective employees, makes selections, assigns personnel. Creates new Pharmacy Service and Medical Center Policies when required. Updates current Pharmacy Service and Pharmacy-owned Medical Center Policies when processes change or when they are up for review. Hears and resolves complaints; hears group grievances, serious employee complaints and effects or recommends actions (procedural or disciplinary). Responsible for the receipt, storage, dispensing, security, and disposal of all DEA designated controlled substances. Provides expertise in drug interactions and incompatibilities via consultation with physicians, nurses, and patients. Advises the medical staff of therapy matters with respect to dosages, therapeutic uses, general administration, toxicity, precautions, drug interactions, bioequivalence, and bioavailability. Develops and maintains quality assurance monitors for pharmacy services provided for inpatients, reports conclusions, actions, and impact to higher management. Plans, organizes, and participates in pharmacist and technician staff development. Conducts frequent and routine meetings with inpatient section personnel. Identifies areas, services, or functions, which offer opportunities for improvement, and develops and implements plans to improve them. Maintains a safe and clean work environment free of any safety and/or fire hazards. Completes the various annual mandatory safety training sessions and ensures that Inpatient Pharmacy Staff also complete all annual mandatory safety training sessions.
