ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is located at the Naval Branch Health Clinic Belle Chasse, Dir of Medicine, Optometrist. Functions as a primary care provider for patients seeking ocular/vision care and is an essential member of the interdisciplinary military medical team. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Utilize specific examinations and instruments to determine an individual's functional vision and specific visual abilities relating to acuity, depth perception, visual fields, contrast sensitivity, and color perception.</p><p>Conduct comprehensive examinations and visual analyses to service members and eligible personnel, corrects visual anomalies, and improves functional inefficiencies by the use of lenses, prisms, or other ophthalmic devices.</p><p>Determine the accommodative, refractive and binocular status of the eyes, and scope of visual function in general to determine the proper applications of lenses to accommodate.</p><p>Perform duties in the area of behavioral and developmental optometry with responsibility to assess the performance of vision and how vision integrates with all of the other senses.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
