ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but are not limited to: - Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes. Completes basic physiological assessments and completes documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance to established policies and procedures. - Monitors, tracks/tends, and reports ongoing care needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team. - Seeks guidance on how to improve care provided to patients and families. - Provide a safe working environment while administering, handling, and disposing of antineoplastic drugs and medical waste. - Focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation.
