ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Nurse IV Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) is the resident expert in health information technology. The CHIO serves as an advisor to the Medical Center Director, Chief of Staff (COS), Associates Directors, and members of the executive team. The CHIO also supports the integration and collaboration of all professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient-centered and organizational goals.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Leads organizational change, fostering collaboration, communication, and managing large projects related to clinical information systems. Provides guidance and oversight of program management to ensure proper resource utilization. Evaluates and supports facility-wide patient care delivery programs, policies, guidelines, and procedures that describe and guide how patients health needs are evaluated. Coordinates the collaboration of all informatics area with quality assurance, clinical cost analysis, equipment procurements, biomedical and OIT activities. Works closely with other VA Medical Centers, contracted facilities, and community facilities to remove obstacles that would impede the Veteran from utilizing the services of other VA Medical Centers. Educates providers on medical management processes. Provides clinical knowledge and acts as a clinical resource to non-clinical multidisciplinary staff. Other duties assigned. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
