ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Nurse (Specialty Care) has two (2) openings, one in Infusion and on in Cardiac Device. This nurse is a self-directed RN who delivers evidence-based specialty care through deliberate planning and critical thinking. Manages complex outpatient situations, coordinates care, educates patients, and supports wellness and chronic disease management. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes while guiding support staff and ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Boise, Idaho blends urban sophistication with outdoor thrills. Take a stroll through Downtown Boise & Old Boise, where history meets modern design, or the Boise River Greenbelt. The city offers a vibrant and diverse dining and night life scene, Visit Boise's food guide, and is home to Boise State University's Bronco Stadium. Boise is a Kid friendly and Pet friendly destination. For more adventure head to Bogus Basin Ski Resort & Boise Foothills, or to the world-famous Sun Valley or scenic McCall. Duties include, not limited to: Provide competent, evidence-based specialty nursing care in an outpatient setting Coordinate patient care with focus on education, self-management, and satisfaction Oversee and support licensed vocational nurses and nursing assistants Administer medications and procedures per policy and guidelines Deliver health promotion, wellness coaching, and disease-prevention education Manage chronic care needs and complex clinical situations independently Participate in nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement Use critical thinking to validate specialty care decisions and question practices Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to influence patient outcomes Prioritize competing demands while maintaining high standards of specialty practice VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm Telework: Not available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
