Nurse (Operating Room)

<p>About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Surgery, Department of Preoperative Nursing main Operating Room, in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provide direct nursing care, of a highly specialized nature, to patients undergoing major surgical procedures in the Operating Room.</p><p>Conduct initial perioperative assessment.</p><p>Review surgeons preference cards for desired medications, equipment, and surgical supplies.</p><p>Respond to the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and patient during each surgical procedure.</p><p>Provide oversight of sedated patients prior, during, and post-procedures.</p><p>Monitor and utilize simple and highly technical equipment.</p><p>Function as charge nurse assuming the responsibility for promoting quality, cost-effective nursing care.</p><h3>Education</h3>See the Qualifications section for education requirements.
