Nurse (Nurse Manager, Surgery and Resource Coordination)

<p>Clinical Nurse Manager for Surgery and Resource Coordination provides leadership, supervision, and staffing for RN Surgery Coordinators, implant and equipment coordination. Oversees scheduling, resources, quality, and regulatory compliance, drives evidence-based process improvement, and fosters a safe, collaborative, Veteran-centered environment focused on optimal surgical outcomes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major Duties: Serves as Nurse Manager for Surgery and Resource Coordination, functioning as a clinical expert and first-line supervisor for RN Surgery Coordinators, including orientation, training, performance management, and coverage for surgical specialties as needed. Oversees and integrates the work of the Surgical Implant Coordinator and Surgical Equipment Coordinator, ensuring safe, timely acquisition, tracking, and documentation of implants, and optimal availability, maintenance, and use of surgical equipment and supplies in collaboration with Supply Chain, SPS, Prosthetics, and other support services. Leads daily OR flow and utilization activities, including review of surgery requests, development and publication of the Master Surgery Schedule, alignment of procedure times, and coordination of equipment, supplies, and implants to support efficient case throughput and safe surgical care. Provides leadership and collaboration with the Director of Clinical Surgery, Chief of Surgical Service, specialty section chiefs, SIPS, and interprofessional teams to remove barriers, implement evidence-based, cutting-edge programs, and drive quality, safety, and patient experience improvements across surgical care settings. Directs staffing and resource coordination for Surgery Service, including recruitment and retention of highly skilled nursing staff, monitoring workflow and equipment needs, and applying System Redesign/Lean principles to ensure cost-effective operations and continuous quality improvement. Ensures compliance with VHA policies, accreditation and regulatory standards, and local SOPs; maintains a culture of accountability, patient and staff education, and high reliability, while promoting diversity, equity, and an inclusive work environment. Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD).
