Nurse (Mother/Infant Care)

<p>About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Nursing, Mother/Baby Unit at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provide nursing care to low and high-risk obstetrical patients with their newborn infants and gynecologic/post-surgical patients.</p><p>This position performs the full range of professional nursing duties for antepartum, postpartum, newborn and gynecologic/post-surgical patients for all ages from infant to geriatric and support the military medical treatment facility.</p><p>Perform a variety of administrative and managerial duties as an extension and in support of the Chief Nurse Officer in Charge (CNOIC).</p><p>Provide comprehensive lactation support for patients opting to breastfeed, promotes alternative feeding methods in support of breastfeeding and provides family-centered educati0on and support.</p><p>Assess, intervene, and evaluate mother and infant according to standards of care and specific unit guidelines.</p><p>Perform or assist with invasive/non-invasive procedures to include collection of laboratory specimens and other samples as required.</p><p>Provide sufficient information to patient(s), parent(s), and/or guardian on: pre- and post-operative education, disease process and complications, medication administration.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
