ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Mental Health Substance Treatment Program (MH STP). The RN provides recovery-oriented care for Veterans with mental health and substance use disorders by conducting assessments, coordinating care, administering treatments, educating patients, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support quality patient outcomes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major Duties: Provide direct nursing care to Veterans receiving mental health and substance use disorder treatment. Perform comprehensive mental health and psychiatric nursing assessments. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team to support recovery-oriented treatment. Administer injectable medications and perform electrocardiograms (ECGs) as appropriate. Provide patient education to promote recovery, self-management, and wellness. Monitor patient status and respond to psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial needs. Collaborate with psychiatrists, substance use professionals, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers. Advocate for Veterans while maintaining professional boundaries and ethical nursing practice. Promote a safe, patient-centered environment and comply with VA policies, procedures, and privacy requirements. Participate in professional development, continuing education, and quality patient care initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
