Please note, this position is only open to Southern Nevada Healthcare System Employees Only.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical, RN will work in Inpatient Care Services. The RN - Medical/Surgical assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Administers medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and safely, following established protocols and standards. Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Utilizes electronic health record (EHR) systems to document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient education in a timely and accurate manner. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education to maintain clinical competency. Ensures a safe environment by following infection prevention practices, fall prevention measures, and hospital safety protocols. Supports patients and families through clear communication, emotional support, and education related to illness, treatment plans, and discharge needs. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals of various education levels and backgrounds by using clear, professional, and respectful communication strategies. Works cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. Participates in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Must be able to successfully complete Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) levels I, II, and III. Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to working on the floor; resources are available to assist with obtaining certification. Must be able to wear a powered air-purifying type respirator (PAPR) and Level C Personal Protective Equipment. Work Schedule: Variable.
