<p>The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a Nurse Manager. The Nurse Manager oversees daily unit operations, patient care delivery, and staff performance while promoting teamwork, regulatory compliance, and high-quality, patient-centered care. This role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes and support organizational goals.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who oversees unit operations and supervises nursing staff. Duties include, but are not limited to: Oversees the daily operation of assigned units and provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed. Supervises staff orientation, training, professional development, and performance evaluations. Functions as a leader, role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor for the nursing team. Coordinates and evaluates patient care delivery to promote quality outcomes and patient satisfaction. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to improve care processes and remove barriers to care. Implements evidence-based practices and participates in performance improvement initiatives. Promotes patient education, self-management, and continuity of care throughout the healthcare continuum. Fosters a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and ethical decision-making. Supports staff competency development and professional growth opportunities. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. Participates in the development of care delivery models that support safe, accessible, equitable, and patient-centered care. Aligns nursing and clinical activities with organizational goals, strategic priorities, and mission objectives. Promotes effective communication, collaboration, and positive customer service practices. Protects patient information and maintains compliance with privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements. Ensures care is delivered in a manner that meets the age-specific, developmental, and lifestyle needs of Veterans. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: 7:30 to 4:00pm - as needed by Facility Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass medical evaluation Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
