<p>Functions as a clinical expert responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Demonstrates sound decision-making, judgment, and excellent interpersonal skills, influencing care outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative process improvement initiatives.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Boise, Idaho blends urban sophistication with outdoor thrills. The Boise VA Healthcare System provides health care services at 6 locations in Idaho and eastern Oregon. Facilities include our Boise VA Medical Center and 5 community-based outpatient clinics in Caldwell, Mountain Home, Salmon, and Twin Falls, Idaho, and Hines, Oregon. The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority, responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units, providing coverage for other NMs as needed. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Clinical Practice & Care Coordination Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor, providing leadership to the team. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Staff Development & Supervision Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, and development of staff. Evaluates individual staff performance. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Leadership Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based programs and processes. Promotes alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Ethics, Accountability & Professional Standards Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Aligns nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Promotes a positive workplace culture to achieve the organization's vision and mission. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for documented outcomes at the program or service level; outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation.
