ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Joseph Maxwell Cleland VAMC in Atlanta, GA is looking for a Nurse Manager (120-Day Detail) to join the Acute Care Service within Nursing and Patient Care Services (NPCS). This first-line supervisory position is responsible for the overall operation and management of an assigned patient care unit. The Nurse Manager provides leadership, direction, and oversight to nursing staff while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties: Serves as the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of assigned units and provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of staff orientation, training, development, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor, providing leadership to the healthcare team. Enhances care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based programs and processes. Seeks knowledge from professional organizations to enhance leadership abilities and career growth. Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making and fosters accountability at the personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with the tools necessary to provide competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Promotes alliances across the continuum of care and builds trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. Participates in the development of care delivery models and environmental design to ensure evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures. Aligns nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes and participates in strategic planning and execution. Promotes a positive work environment that supports the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements, policies, directives, and procedures.
