ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is located within 2 South, Department of Nursing at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provides for safekeeping and accurate accounting of controlled drugs and narcotics in accordance with Defense Health Agency (DHA), MTF, and department guidance.</p><p>Teaches, mentors, precepts, and onboard professional and paraprofessional nursing staff, including potential trainees from various nursing programs (nurse transition programs, critical care fellowship, practical nursing) and new staff.</p><p>Manages the delivery of nursing care, utilizing knowledge of an extensive range of professional nursing theories, principles, and procedures.</p><p>Provides highly skilled and specialized clinical care.</p><p>Contributes to the medical examination of patients by observing, recognizing, recording, and reporting changes in patients.</p><p>Works without direct supervision once competency assessment and credentialing objectives are met.</p><p>Maintains a safe environment for patients and all other hospital employees.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
