Nurse (Clinical/Medical Surgical Pediatrics)

<p>About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center located at Fort Hood, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service This is a Direct Hire Solicitation</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Ensure maintenance of adequate medical supplies and medications to be used in crash cart.</p><p>Develop a nursing care plan for the management of acute and chronically ill adult and pediatric patients collaborating with other members of the health care team.</p><p>Administer oxygen, IV fluids, blood transfusions, chemotherapy and prescribed oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications utilizing mg/kg-dosing calculations for pediatric and adult patients as required.</p><p>Provide information and education on the disease process, pre and postoperative care, procedures, safety factors, use of equipment, use of medications and health maintenance issues.</p><p>Set up, operate, and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, pulse ox meters, IVAC and PCA pumps, feeding pumps, defibrillators, etc.</p><p>Manage nasal-pharyngeal and gastric suction as well as a variety of other drainage tubes such as Foley catheters, hemovacs, JP drains, chest tubes.</p><h3>Education</h3>See Qualifications section for education requirements.
