ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This position is for a non-supervisory MRI Technologist, MR Safety Officer position at the Robley Rex Medical Center. MRI Technologist, MR Safety Officer at this level generally have a higher level of responsibility for technical oversight, and are expected to carry out assigned tasks of considerable difficulty independently.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The incumbent is certified/licensed by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) and has demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills abilities, and other "core competencies" associated with current radiologic technology practice. The duties will include but are not limited to: Chairs the MRI Safety Committee, and prepares and presents reports for the facility safety committee. She/He is responsible for the committee charter and meeting agendas MRSO maintains all aspects of MRI safety regulatory compliance MRSO is responsible to educate required employees in a one time MRI safety course, and an annual update course for those employees with a high probability of encountering the MRI environment Perform competency reviews for employees within the MRI section Provides orientation and training to employees and students within his/her section Safeguards the MRI Scanning environment sufficient to maintain a safe condition at all times Provides input for the development of policy and procedure for the MRI section, pursuant to the delivery of MRI services at the highest possible standard of patient safety, in accordance with the recommendations of the American College of Radiology, The Joint Commission and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies Interprets requests and instructions from medical providers, under the guidance of the Radiologist Properly identifies patient by confirming patient name and social security number. This is essential so that mistaken identity of patient images does not occur Informs the patient about the examination, securing their trust, confidence, and cooperation Performs/coordinates the performance of various modality Quality Assurance measures, and preventative maintenance tasks with either biomedical engineering service or equipment vendors as necessary Work Schedule: Rotating 10 hour shifts with Rotating days off.
