Medical Records Technician

<p>About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth under the Patient Administration Directorate, located at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Branch Health Clinic, processing and maintaining medical records, documentation of patient care manually and using automated systems, and performing a variety of administrative support duties, Monday through Friday, 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Register new patients and correct registration errors for patients.</p><p>Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and all components are present, accurate, and filed in proper sequence.</p><p>Create reports regarding medical records.</p><p>Releases medical information and prepare responses to inquiries from providers and other parties, such as law firms, insurance companies, etc.</p><p>Responsible for annual retirement of medical records, ensuring proper delivery to appropriate location.</p><p>Ensure medical records are in compliance to current policies and instructions.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
