Medical Records Technician

<p>About the Position: Position is located at Naval Hospital Beaufort SC - Patient Administration Department, Medical Records. Responsible for the management and maintenance of patient medical records. Hours: 0730-1600 This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Interviews and in-processes new patients, obtaining necessary identifying data for preparation of medical record and prepares required contents.</p><p>Retrieves individual medical records from the terminal digit system for scheduled appointments.</p><p>Collects and organizes data for statistical reports, audits, and/or research projects.</p><p>Reviews records for correct format, serviceability, and completeness.</p><p>Performs annual records retirement separating, screening, selecting, assembling, packing, and preparing records for shipment.</p><p>Maintains control of medical records that are highly sensitive.</p><p>Receives request for copies of medical records for patients, other Medical Treatment Facilities and insurance companies</p><p>Follows established procedures to ensure the confidentiality of all health information.</p><p>Directs patients to various hospital clinics, administrative departments, laboratory, X-ray site, etc.</p><p>Receives patients at an open counter</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
