ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Serves as Medical Records Technician (MRT), functioning primarily as an inpatient/ outpatient records coder.</p><p>Assigns specific codes to medical records, sequencing and determining codes to accurately reflect the resources and procedures used in the care of the patients.</p><p>Ensures compliance with regulatory and third-party insurance requirements in utilizing the ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT, and HCPCS LEVEL II coding books.</p><p>Assures accurate coding of diseases, injuries, manifestations, operations, and nonsurgical procedures, both complicated and uncomplicated, in accordance with established guidelines and coding principles.</p><p>Performs quantitative analysis and checks medical record for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.</p><p>Performs research and coordination to correct inconsistencies or discrepancies in the documentation gathers and compiles various data and produces reports as needed.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
