ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is located in Bassett Army Community Hospital at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Coordinate with clinical department chiefs, physicians, and other health care providers for the coding and timely completion of medical records.</p><p>Responsible for reviewing medical records each month to ensure compliance with standards from the Joint Commission as well as the Defense Health Agency Patient Administration Division and Medical Coding Program Branch.</p><p>Review notes, doctor's orders, consultation reports, laboratory, and radiology reports etc., to ascertain all diagnosis, procedures, and complications are recorded in the proper terminology.</p><p>Supervise and plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, to include establishment of priorities and preparation of schedules for completion of work.</p><p>Make decisions on medico-legal matters regarding compliance and release of information issues.</p><p>Audit medical records to determine that appropriate codes describing diseases, injuries, operations, and non-surgical procedures are developed and entered into medical records based on documentation contained therein.</p><p>Provide technical expertise in all activities pertaining to coding and ambulatory patient groups (APGs).</p>
