<p>The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, Nursing Operations service line, is currently recruiting for one (1) Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is a float position and requires daily travel to one of the Community-Based Outpatients Clinics that comprise the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System catchment area.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>*Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.* VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates the ability to exercise independent technical judgments. Possess and applies a comprehensive working knowledge of the principles, art, and science of practical nursing. Technically proficient in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations and assists other staff. Carries out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions. Accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. Observes, identifies, and responds to the patient's needs for medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education. In Organizing and delivering care, the LPN/LVN recognizes and considers emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-related factors. Utilizing principles of aseptic technique, universal precautions, and isolations requirements. Prepares the clinical environment, which may include preparing medical and telecommunications equipment to be used for clinical examination and treatment. Performs specialized imaging and testing in accordance with national guidelines, as well as support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures. Taking and recording in the medical record: clinical data from testing, imaging, height, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, pulse oximeter, temperate, pain score, weight, and neurological check. Collecting specimens, urine, feces, sputum, etc., and appropriately prepare and transports specimens to the laboratory. Completes standardized clinical documentation and templates within the scope of training, required timeframes, and applicable guidelines ensuring that patient privacy is protected by complying with all information security and patient privacy regulations. Accurately and consistently reports and records significant veteran information received from other team members and is able to analyze and implement modifications based on these reports, communicates changes, concerns and issues about patient or other work-related situations to the supervisor as soon as they occur. Is adept at encouraging and communicating with challenge psychological and physical behaviors to promote optimal functioning. Uses treatment modalities and implements appropriate practices and procedures with complex patients. Utilizes skills to influence and communicate with difficult and challenging veterans and families. Maintains a positive understanding and helpful attitude toward patient, patient families and coworkers. Maintains regular contact with other staff members and the Facility Telehealth Coordinator to work out process issues, equipment needs, problems, data collection and any other logistical issues. Maintains knowledge and skill in applying an extensive body of rules, procedures, and operations in Telehealth-related technologies and a variety of computer hardware and software used for telecommunications, data entry and retrieval, record maintenance, document, and report generation. Adheres to and teaches others infection control guidelines and practices. Performs treatments, procedures and the use and reprocessing of reusable medical equipment appropriate to assigned area Self-directed and responsible to provide education and training to Veterans and clinical staff on the use of telehealth technologies and serves as a point of contact to answer questions and address concerns related to these technologies. Additional duties as assigned. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Functional Statement #: 56291-A Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>This position is a float position and requires daily travel to one of the Community-Based Outpatients Clinics that comprise the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. Clinics are currently located In Ada, Altus, Ardmore, Blackwell, Clinton, Enid, Lawton, Norman, OKC, Shawnee, Stillwater, Yukon and Wichita Falls, TX. Travel time will occur within the tour of duty hours. Government vehicles are available for use. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
