<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within 4 months of appointment. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>This position is located on CLC-B which is a locked dementia LTC unit at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. Duties include but are not limited to; Ability to recognize changes in residents' conditions and the need for intervention which may be of emergent nature requiring immediate attention. Reports of any noted change in patient's condition to RN or MD/DO. Provides effective education to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medication and prescribed treatment regimes. Knowledge and skill sufficient to prepare, administer and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures. Recognizes and appropriately responds to breakage or malfunction equipment, safety hazards, and supply deficiencies promptly reporting to appropriate personnel for corrective action. Actively participates in resident care planning and conferences and recommends changes to the plan of care with the registered nurse. Supports individual resident choices, autonomy and preferred routines in activities of daily living. Performs basic personal care for the resident utilizing standardized procedures and promotes independence in ADL activities.
