Licensed Practical Nurse- Speciality Primary Care

<p>The Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN) is positioned within the the Chillicothe VA Medical Center under the Primary Care Service Line. The incumbent performs more complex nursing assignments within their setting. The incumbent possesses comprehensive practical nursing knowledge and skills in specialized procedures and practices. The LPN is responsible for goals and interventions that promote veterans in attaining maximum functional potential.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include but are not limited to: Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, Intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures. Promotes a safe therapeutic environment and meets the safety needs of patient, taking into considerations age related needs. Recognizes and reports unsafe working conditions and malfunctioning equipment, initiating corrective measures where indicated. Recognizes life threatening situations and independently performs appropriate care according to approved policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to work independently without the need for readily available supervision and communicates effectively with the veteran, families, caregivers, professionals, and other supportive staff. Contributes to the development of the plan of care for assigned veterans outlining program modalities and updates per policy and as changes occur. Responds diligently to the veteran changes and deteriorating condition in emergent situations, notifying appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
