ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Kansas City VA Medical Center is recruiting for one Licensed Practical Nurses to join the Primary Care service line at the Shawnee VA Clinic, located in Shawnee, KS.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Functioning at the top of his or her license. Observing, recording, and reporting changes in the patient's condition. Assisting in the development and revision of the patient-driven holistic life care plan. Demonstrating active collaboration, communication and problem solving with Core Team (Patient, Primary Care Provider, RN Care Coordinator and Clerk) and Expanded Team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services involved in providing care to the patient). Communicating and interacting appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers. Maintaining confidentiality of patient / employee information electronically, verbally, and written. Working and functioning within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment. Integrating and applying pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement program into his/her professional practice. Utilizing nursing research, evidence-based practice, and literature in daily practice. Providing care appropriate to the bio-psychosocial needs of the population served. Possessing an understanding of the changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population. Assessing and interpreting data relating to the patient's current health status, which will facilitate the delivery of care appropriate to the age specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient. Providing culturally competent care to a diverse patient population. Ensuring qualifications and required certifications are maintained, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, any 8-hour tour within the window of 6:45am - 4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
