<p>About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA in the Directorate of Nursing, Mental Health Inpatient Ward. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Advanced leave accrual may be authorized.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Review and interpret patient assessments and admission data to formulate a comprehensive plan of care.</p><p>Collaborate with the multidisciplinary health team to develop and provide comprehensive nursing care plans for patients.</p><p>Operate equipment used in patient care such as vital sign machine and oxygen equipment.</p><p>Participate in patient care rounds initially and throughout the shift to ascertain problem areas, changes in level of acuity, and changes in patient needs.</p><p>Provide oversight and coordination for the inpatient mental health nursing team.</p><p>Coordinate daily staff assignments as Charge Nurse, including the supervision of active-duty personnel, managing daily schedules, providing input to supervisors for leave management, and balancing workloads to meet the unit's dynamic needs.</p><p>Assess learning needs and provide teaching for patients and significant others during hospitalization to ensure transfer or discharge objectives are achieved.</p><p>Operate an automated data system utilizes to document patient care while ensuring accuracy is performed by all health care workers involved to ensure proper information is documented.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
