ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Interventional Radiology Nurse implements and evaluates the coordination of patient care for patients undergoing invasive procedures in Interventional Radiology (IR). Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, provides patient education and nursing care. They administer medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines, while continually developing knowledge and technical skills.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major duties include, but are not limited to: Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary patient care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment. Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning. Provides patient education to assist the patient and/or family in understanding all phases of the invasive procedure process. Performs the recording, circulating, and monitoring of patients in all phases of the procedure. Performs hemodynamic and moderate sedation, medication administration, and provides pre and post care to patients. Collaborates with health care professionals in planning radiology patient care intervention. Delegates elements of care as needed, based on assessed needs, condition and safety of the patient. Maintains ethical, professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting. Delivers consistent care and improve patient outcomes. Demonstrates positive, effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers. Participates in educational activities and continuing education requirements. Applies evidence-based practice/research to patient care. Maintains and protects all printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with privacy policies. Manages workload as assigned, organizes, and completes own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner. Performs all duties as assigned.
