<p>This position is located within the Quality Management Service at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida. The Registered Nurse Fall Prevention Program Manager supports the medical center's integrated Fall Prevention Program by assisting with data collection, event review, staff education, and performance improvement initiatives. The incumbent promotes a safe environment for Veterans by helping prevent and mitigate fall-related risks across inpatient and outpatient settings.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Fall Prevention Nurse serves as an essential member of the Quality Management Service, supporting the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital's commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care to Veterans. The incumbent functions as a developing professional nurse who applies foundational clinical knowledge to identify fall-risk trends, assist with performance improvement efforts, and reinforce safe clinical practices across the organization. Working under the guidance of senior staff, the nurse collaborates with unit leadership, Patient Safety, and interdisciplinary teams to promote an environment that reduces fall incidents and prevents harm. The role emphasizes data evaluation, education support, documentation compliance, and participation in quality initiatives aligned with facility, VISN, and national patient-safety goals. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Assisting with the implementation and evaluation of the JAHVH Fall Prevention Program to ensure alignment with VA, VISN, and national guidelines. Supporting fall-risk screening processes, adherence audits, and clinical data tracking. Participating in fall event reviews, assisting with root-cause analysis activities, and helping develop corrective action plans. Delivering education and competency reinforcement for nursing staff related to fall prevention practices and safe-patient-handling equipment. Reviewing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards. Collaborating with unit leadership, Patient Safety, and interdisciplinary teams to improve environmental safety and reduce fall-related injuries. Preparing and presenting data to Quality Management committees and leadership as assigned. Assisting with accreditation preparedness, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement projects.
