<p>Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (CVAHCS) is a Level 3 facility with service-lines serving medical, mental health, surgical, and neurological outpatients, with a Level 3 Emergency Department, and multiple Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. Home-Based Primary Care is provided in the veteran's home.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Domiciliary Mental Health (MH) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients. They will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. The domiciliary RN provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with substance use disorder and/or MH conditions. They facilitate shift report, warm hand-offs, and nurse-led psychoeducational groups; use therapeutic communication techniques, practice de-escalation techniques, utilize recovery-oriented language, and provide oversight of the patient safe medication management program. The domiciliary RN actively participates in MH interdisciplinary treatment team, patient safety and environment of care rounds, and responds to psychiatric and medical care needs and emergencies as directed. The domiciliary RN reports safety concerns, and documents nursing assessments, risk screens, nursing plan of care, patient safety rounds, and environment of care rounds according to facility policy. The domiciliary RN maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. The domiciliary RN demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills. Other duties as assigned.
