<p>This position is assigned to the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Service at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System in Fredericksburg, VA. Employees at this level are fully functional as a DRT and are able to carry out their assigned tasks independently without any supervision.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>At the GS-11 level duties include but are not limited to: Supports imaging operations, quality assurance, system functionality, and workflow optimization across the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Service Line. Duties include coordination with Biomedical Engineering, Ol&T, Clinical Application Coordinators, VistA Application Support Teams, Region 3 Business Critical Systems, and Agfa service representatives. This position also fulfills the functional roles of PACS and ADPAC back up for imaging services within VISN 6. Monitors the performance and operational integrity of imaging-related information systems including PACS, VistA Imaging, Computerized Radiography/DR systems, Voice Recognition Dictation systems, and other software platforms supporting Radiology workflows. The technologist identifies system issues that cannot be resolved through routine user intervention, performs basic diagnostic checks, documents findings, and coordinates advanced troubleshooting with vendor support, Biomedical Engineering, local Ol&T, Clinical Application Coordinators, and Region 3 Business Critical Systems. Collaborates with systems specialists during planning, configuration, testing, and implementation of new imaging applications, upgrades, and hardware installations to ensure compatibility, functionality, and compliance with VISN 6 and national VA requirements. Ensures that images are accurately captured, properly linked to patient identifiers, and successfully transmitted to PACS for timely radiologist interpretation. Any imaging workflow failure or delay is identified and resolved promptly to support continuity of patient care.
