ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography - CT) serves at an advanced level. The incumbent performs in the role of a multimodality technologist with a substantially full range of duties in general radiology and computed tomography at the Syracuse, NY VAMC. They must have advanced registry in CT by the ARRT in order to practice in this facility. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT POSITION.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but are not limited to: Ability to prioritize and triage all imaging requests in the CT and general radiology section of the Imaging Department. Independently performs general radiology, portable radiology, and O.R. radiology exams. Independently performs advance CT procedures such as Cardiac CT and Angiographic studies. Performs complex radiographic studies with minimal general supervision. Serves as proctor for providing clinical requirements for admission to the CT ARRT boards for new technologists. Supervises and documents requirements need to complete didactic theory, and lab requirement ARRT requirements. Performs all the advanced CT procedures including complex patient examinations with little physician supervision. Performs veno-puncture for venous access for iodinated contrast exams. Assists in performing procedures in other specialty modalities. Prepares and administers contrast media and medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Performs general X-ray, fluoroscopic studies, pain blocks, DEXA scanning and CT duties as needed. Works multiple modalities simultaneously on off tours and confers with radiologists to determine requirement of non-standard exams. Determines technical factors, positioning, number and thickness of scans to produce and satisfy requirements of CT scanning. Work Schedule: Intermittent, days and hours to be determined by the needs of the service. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized. Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized. Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Telework: Not available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
