<p>This Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (ADRT), Computed Tomography (CT), position is assigned to the MEDVAMC Radiology Service Computed Tomography section within Houston to include the CBOCs. The ADRT-CT, employee at this level is fully functional as an Advanced DRT and can carry out the assigned tasks independently. The position at this level has varying assignments including support of general x-ray as needed.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Maintains all MEDVAMC requirements, including current BLS certification on a bi-annual basis. Demonstrates expert knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to CT imaging. Performs advanced post-processing, including 3D rendering, angiographic reformats, and multi-planar reconstructions. Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with imaging equipment, injectors, and software, reporting malfunctions promptly. Maintains full competency in venipuncture and independently administers IV contrast according to established protocols and patient safety guidelines. Operates power injector in support of vascular surgery in operating room. Evaluates patient history, contraindications, and lab values to ensure safe contrast use. Monitors patients before, during, and after contrast administration and initiates appropriate action in the event of an adverse reaction. Adjusts schedule proactively to accommodate emergent and add-on cases. Performs and documents daily/weekly Quality Assurance checks required for CT equipment and imaging systems. Applies all radiation safety principles, including ALARA, proper use of shielding, and dose-optimization strategies. Ensures strict adherence to infection control policies, sterile technique, and safe handling of supplies, sharps, and biohazard materials. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm subject to change based on the needs of the facility. Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not available.
