ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major duties include, but are not limited to: Prepares, administers, records, and communicates results of medications, vital signs, treatments, etc. Under indirect supervision of the RN, functions as the primary nurse and gives the change of shift report to the oncoming shift nurse and NA. Carries out emergency measures and initiating procedures for obtaining medical/other types of assistance. Initiates CPR as needed. Completes pain evaluations, and on the basis of pre-formulated guidelines, either provides education, or refers for further evaluation. Reviews the patient's progress toward established goals and motivates the patient toward the achievement of these goals. Documents as appropriate. Documents in medical record patient information including responses to treatments and procedures. Obtain and process blood, urine and other samples for laboratory testing as ordered by a provider and in accordance with unit and facility guidelines.
