The Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to serve as a Research Clinical Analyst, supporting high-impact clinical research initiatives that advance the health and well-being of our nation's Veterans.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Clinical Analyst Research Registered Nurse serves as an integral member of the Oncology Clinical and Research Team, supporting evidence-based care, research operations, and data-driven performance improvement across the service. The nurse delivers foundational and progressively advanced research and clinical analysis skills while applying clinical judgment, protocol knowledge, and analytical expertise to ensure safe patient care, accurate data collection, and adherence to regulatory and institutional standards. The incumbent assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates clinical and research activities in alignment with age-specific considerations and established performance measures. The role is characterized by responsibility and accountability for coordinating patient education, self-management support, data integrity efforts, and customer service throughout the continuum of care. The nurse follows established policies, research protocols, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to influence and improve care outcomes. Core responsibilities include ongoing knowledge development and active participation in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, analytic projects, and customer service programs. Assigned duties, but not limited to: Functions as a Clinical Analyst Research Registered Nurse (RN), focusing on progressive growth, development, and increasing self-direction under close supervision. Maintain an advanced understanding of Oncology Research coordination including all phases of clinical trial management from study initiation through closeout. Provides research and data analysis at the local level to support nursing evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and service-level decision-making. Assists with research activities including patient screening, data collection, documentation, and adherence to approved research protocols. Supports coordination of research-related tasks, identifies discrepancies, and reports findings promptly and appropriately. Applies foundational research principles and demonstrates developing critical thinking skills within clinical research activities. Collects, organizes, and maintains data to support evaluation, quality initiatives, and analytic needs for the service. Demonstrates professionalism by promoting and aligning data management best practices, analytical initiatives, and innovation through collaboration and stakeholder engagement. Coordinates biospecimen collection, processing documentation, storage, and shipment in accordance with study protocols. Participates in data analysis projects using basic qualitative and quantitative research methods such as chart reviews, interviews, surveys, site visits, observations, and statistical analysis. Investigates data discrepancies in a timely manner and presents findings to management with clarity and accuracy. Adheres to established performance metrics and collaborates with team members to identify problem areas and develop potential solutions. Contributes to the development of workflows, databases, and structured data collection systems to support research and operational functions. Provides training to research staff on relevant software programs and data management tools. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and established standard operating procedures. Integrates nursing practice principles, research knowledge, and analytical theory into daily activities while continuing to develop technical competence and professional confidence within the practice setting.
