ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Chief Radiologic Technologist at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center has direct supervisory responsibility for all Diagnostic Radiology Technologists, Medical Instrument Technologists, subordinate Lead Specialist Technologists and DRT Supervisor. The Radiology Service provides comprehensive and complex radiographic and imaging programs.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Directs and is responsible for the performance of the individual technologists in every modality within the department of Radiology. Evaluates performance based on pre-determined standards and recommends promotions, reassignments or other status changes of subordinate personnel to the Service Chief. Participates in the management of human resources for the department including selection, promotion, performance appraisal, and award/promotion system. Provides written support and documentation for recommendations to Service Chief (Approving Officials) for final approval. Provides direction to personnel in managing their respective sections and offers advice and guidance in handling unique problems. Resolves informal complaints of employees or customers, and directs them in process of resolution for formal complaints. Advises employees of performance requirements and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting these requirements. Holds corrective interviews with employees regarding inadequate performance or conduct, as necessary. Such actions will be discussed with Service Chief prior to formal action being taken. Ensures the monitoring of all activities within the radiology sections and takes appropriate action in order to assure their efficient and effective operation. Assures adequate technologist staffing for all sections on all shifts. Regularly sets objectives for self, staff, and department in conjunction with service management and facility goals. Monitors and evaluates objectives, and redirects as necessary, to meet established goals and deadlines effectively and in a timely manner. Meets regularly with Administrative Officer, Radiology Manager, and Service Chief to discuss objectives and goals. Works with union representatives on matters involving action by an immediate supervisor. Implements provisions of personnel management programs where well-established procedures exist such as EEO, career development plans, departmental policy and procedures, award and incentive programs, grievance procedures and safety practices.
